You’ve just been laid off …NOW WHAT?!?!
Being laid off is really hard. There is no skirting around that.
TRUE STORY
A recent client of mine was laid off with 2 months of severance. She was understandable very upset and took a full week for anger, sadness, binging, and self-love. She wanted to take longer, but couldn’t afford to. Reality is real! She buckled down
Highlights
Together we made a list of 5 people in her network that would be an easy reach-out. Over the weeks this list grew and evolved.
I worked with her to update her LinkedIn profile with skills and job titles. This continued to evolve.
We searched for positions and I created a resume easily customizable for multiple applications.
She networked before submitting applications (if she knew someone).
She submitted 10 total applications.
The Result
She received multiple interviews, multiple rounds of interviews, and several offers.
She is now earning more $$ than before. (This took some savvy negotiation.)
She was set in her new position just as her 2 months was up.
The Other Part of the StoryIt was HARD and VULNERABLE work. There were panic attacks, uncomfortable networking, and long interview prep.
The process was hard and there was anxiety. But she was not alone in the process.
It did yield GREAT RESULTS.
Having a game plan and a TO-DO List makes all the difference.
